  1. (grammar, linguistics) Any of various conditional structures containing an if clause and a main clause and that is not the zero, first, second, or third conditional.
    Coordinate terms: zero conditional, first conditional, second conditional, third conditional
    "If you had crashed the car, you might be in trouble" involves a mixed conditional.
