molehunter (plural molehunters)

  1. (espionage) One who investigates and attempts to identify a mole (agent who has infiltrated an organisation).
    • 1994, Roy Berkeley, A Spy's London, page 306:
      In the late 1960s here, in a room booked for the occasion, molehunter Peter Wright made 'one more try' at breaking Alister Watson, the defence scientist believed to have given secrets to the Soviets for decades.
