Etymology

From mwa (to drink) + -etsa (causative suffix for monosyllabic verbs). Cognate with Tumbuka -mweska (to cause someone to drink) and Yao -mwesya (to cause to drink). Also cognate with Swahili -nywesha which comes from the main Proto-Bantu stem.
