polyhalite (countable and uncountable, plural polyhalites)

  1. (mineralogy) A mineral usually occurring in fibrous masses, of a brick-red color, being tinged with iron, and consisting chiefly of the sulphates of lime, magnesia, and soda.
    • 2019 October, James Abbott, “Esk Valley revival”, in Modern Railways, page 76:
      Shafts are now being sunk at Sirius Minerals' Woodsmith mine to extract polyhalite for use as an agricultural fertiliser, with much of the output exported.
