precomposition (countable and uncountable, plural precompositions)

  1. (music) Decisions made regarding a piece of music before composition begins, such as which key or which genre to use.
  2. (mathematics) A form of pullback where a function of a variable y can be rewritten as a function of x if y itself is a function of x.
