Inherited from Proto-Philippine [Term?], from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *saləŋ, from Proto-Austronesian *saləŋ (pine tree, pitch pine).

sáhing (Baybayin spelling ᜐᜑᜒᜅ᜔) (botany)

  1. pitch, sap, gum or oleoresin obtained from certain trees, insoluble in water, flammable, and is now used in the production of varnish, ink, plastic, and medicine
  2. synonym of pili (Canarium ovatum, Canarium asperum or Canarium luzonicum)
  3. a tree of genus Pinus that grows up to 35 meters and has a sticky and flammable resin
