1. (chiefly Isle of Man, also Scotland and Ireland) A chain or hook used for hanging a pot while cooking.
   • 1894, Hall Caine, The Manxman:

     ...a pot of potatoes in their jackets which swung from the slowrie, the hook over the fire.

   • 1908, Sophia Morrison, Manx Cookery Book:

     Fill the three-legged pot 3/4 full of water and hang it on the slowrie.
