From sparge + -er or equivalent. Compare French asperger (“to sprinkle”), Latin aspergere, spargere.

sparger (plural spargers)
- A vessel with a perforated cover for sprinkling a liquid.
- (chemistry) A device for sparging, or introducing bubbles.
