- Synonym: squig
- (UK, colloquial) Someone who walks in wet, muddy patches of mire or bogland to cultivate water-based herbs and plants. Historically referred to as gatherers of seaweed for lime or moss for medical treatment. Certain plants are good for fish and sewage treatment, so people would 'squidge' for reeds and similar plants for these purposes.
