strike through (third-person singular simple present strikes through, present participle striking through, simple past struck through, past participle struck through or (rare or archaic) stricken through)

  1. To partly obliterate text by drawing a continuous line through the centre thereof, usually to indicate the deletion of an error or obsolete information.
    Synonyms: cross out, strike out
    Coordinate terms: bold, boldface, embolden, italicize, underline
    It is useful to strike through an incorrect text, leaving it legible, to demonstrate that it is an incorrect usage.
