sunset clause (plural sunset clauses)
- (law) A provision of a law which says the law or something under it, as an agency or benefit established by it, will come to an end on a particular date or after a particular period of time.
- Synonym: sunset provision
- Antonym: sunrise clause
- A sunset clause in this act says the tax exemption will expire on the thirtieth day after the effective date of the act.
