A sumpsimus variation of teletype using the less common Ancient Greek form telo- (“far, distant, telegraph”) + type.

- (obsolete) Synonym of teletype: a telegraph that automatically prints transmitted messages in letters rather than Morse code or other symbols; the telegrams produced by this device.
