  1. The temporary reduction of bandwidth through a communications network by controlling the package flow rate, in order to minimise congestion.
  2. Reduction in amount of chemical or other fluid in process such as a heating or ventilation system.
  3. Reduction in flow rate between two points caused by an intermediate restriction, device, structure or configuration.
