Russenorsk

Etymology

From Norwegian Nynorsk vaska (to wash) or its Northern dialectal apocope form vask + -om.

Semantic shift of unknown origin. The sense to baptize compare to Finnish kastaa (dip, baptize). The sense to paint may be result of misunderstanding between the speakers (or between them and the translator).
