English

Etymology 1

1670s US variant of zed (which see for more), by analogy with other letters such as bee, dee, tee and vee, and standardized by Noah Webster.

  1. The name of the Latin-script letter Z/z.

  3. (colloquial, usually in the plural) Sleep.
    Time to get some zees.
