Area code 670 is the telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). It was created with a permissive dialing period from July 1, 1997 to July 1, 1998, when it permanently replaced the previous International Telecommunication Union (ITU) country code 670. Country code 670 was later assigned to East Timor.
