It is a junction station in Tiruchirappalli of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the only railway station to host diesel–electric multiple unit (DEMU) shed. Tiruchirappalli Junction is the second largest railway station in Tamil Nadu and one of the busiest railway stations in India.
