Banská Bystrica (saksa keeles: Neusohl, ungari keeles: Besztercebánya) on linn Slovakkias, Banská Bystrica maakonna ja Banská Bystrica ringkonna keskus. Banská Bystrica on elanike arvult kuues linn Slovakkias.[2] Asub Hroni jõe orus. Linn paikneb Slovakkia keskosas, umbes 200 kilomeetrit riigi pealinnast Bratislavast kirdes. Linn on Kesk-Slovakkia majandus-, haldus- ja kultuurikeskus.[3]

98% linna elanikest on slovakid. Järgmised suuremad rahvusrühmad on ungarlased, rumeenlased ja tšehhid.
Linna elanikest 97% emakeel on slovakkia keel.[4]
Enne 20. sajandit oli linna peamiseks majandusharuks vasekaevandamine. Kui linna maavarad olid 20. sajandiks praktiliselt ammendatud, on Banská Bystricast saanud tekstiili, paberi, metalltoodete ja tsemendi tootmise tööstuskeskus. 21. sajandi alguses on linna jaoks suurenenud turismi majanduslik tähtsus. Linnast on saanud populaarne suve- ja talvekuurort. Linna lähedus Alam-Tatra mägedele muudab selle matkajatele ja suusatajatele ligitõmbavaks.[8]
Linna viib hea maanteevõrk. Linna saab jõuda nii auto, bussi kui rongiga. Linna läbib Euroopa maantee E77.
Linnasisene ühistransport on korraldatud bussi- ja trolliliinidega ning taksoteenuse osutamisega.
Linnas on F. D. Roosvelti Ülikooli haigla ja Lastehaigla.
F. D. Roosvelti Ülikooli haigla loodi 1991. aastal.[9] Selles haiglas raviti enam kui kahe nädala jooksul ka Slovakkia peaministrit Robert Ficot pärast talle 15. mail 2024 tehtud atentaati.[10]
Lastehaigla avati 2014. aastal.[11]
