Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) on Englannissa Chiltonissa sijaitseva tiedekeskus. Laboratoriossa on 1200 työntekijää.
RAL toimii Science and Technology Facilities Council eli STFC-neuvoston alaisuudessa ja rahoituksella. Se on nimetty Ernest Rutherford ja Edward Appletonin mukaan. 2000-luvulla nimi oli hetken DRAL, mutta se ei jäänyt pysyväksi. D tuli Daresbury Laboratorystä.
Rutherford High Energy Laboratoryn perustettiin vuonna 1957 RAFin Harwellin lentotukikohtaan. Se yhdistyi vuosina 1975 ja 1979 ensin Atlas Computer Laboratory-laboratorioon ja sitten Appleton Laboratory-laboratorioon.
Laboratorio tekee mm. ydintekniikan ja hiukkaskiihdytintutkimusta ja tutkii lasereita. Se on merkittävä avaruustutkimuslaboratorio.
