Gotneska er útdautt austur-germanskt tungumál sem Gotar töluðu. Gotneska er aðallega þekkt af biblíuþýðingu Wulfila. Er elsta handritið af því, svonefnd Silfurbiblía eða Codex Argenteus, varðveitt í háskólabókasafninu í Uppsölum. Það handrit er skrifað á 6. öld, en textinn sjálfur er frá 4. öld. Ritmál Gota var sett saman af Wulfila, sem þýddi Biblíuna á það, og byggist það á því gríska fyrst og fremst en einnig latínuletri og rúnaletri. Gotneska skildi eftir sig enga beina niðja en hún var á niðurleið frá miðri 6. öld vegna ósigurs Gota í stríðum við Franka, brottfarar Gota frá Ítalíu og landfræðilegrar einangrunar (á Spáni var gotneska kirkjumál Vesturgota en hún dó út þar þegar þeir skiptu í kaþólsku árið 589). Að einhverju marki má þó gera ráð fyrir að gotneska hafi samlagast suður-þýskum mállýskum og lifði þjóðsögur um Gotakonunginn Þiðrik af Bern um langan aldur meðal þjóðverja.

Gotneska er sérstaklega áhugaverð frá sjónarmiði germanskrar samanburðarmálfræði þar sem gotnesku Biblíutextarnir eru þremur til fjórum öldum eldri en ritaðir textar annara forngermanskra mála, að fáeinum rúnaristum á frumnorrænu undanskildum. Hún hefur því ýmis fornleg einkenni sem höfðu nær eða alveg horfið úr öðrum germönskum málum þegar þau voru fyrst færð í letur. Má þar nefna ósamsetta þolmynd, tvítölu og svonefndar tvöföldunarsagnir.
Lýsingarorð hafa bæði veika og sterka beygingu og laga sig í kyni, tölu og falli eftir þeim nafnorðum sem þau fylgja. Í stað ákveðins greinis koma ábendingarfornöfnin sa, so og þata (sbr. íslensku sá, sú og þetta).
