Grunnavík er lítil vík í utanverðu fjarðarmynni Jökulfjarða. Þar er sumarábúð og rekin ferðaþjónusta að Sútarabúðum yfir sumarið. Þéttbýlt var áður í Grunnavík en síðustu ábúendur fóru þaðan árið 1962 en við það lagðist endanlega byggð af á Jökulfjörðum. Maríuhorn, sem er 350 metrar að hæð, setur sterkan svip á Grunnavík. Kirkja er á Stað í Grunnavík. Auk þess eru þar bæirnir Naust, Nes, Oddsflöt og svo Faxastaðir fram í dalnum, sem allir eru í eyði.
Á Stað var prestur á 19. öld, Hannes Arnórsson, sem segir frá í bók Friðriks Eggerz Úr fylgsnum fyrri aldar.
Í botni Grunnavíkur er Staðardalur, grösugur og stuttur dalur sem liggur milli tveggja fjalla, Geirsfjalls og Seljafjalls. Dalurinn er umkringdur 700 metra háum hamraveggjum á báða bóga. Í Staðardalsdrögum er Grænavatn.
