Doctor's Advocate

Doctor's Advocate è il terzo album del rapper losangelino The Game.
Uscito negli Stati Uniti il 14 novembre 2006 per Geffen Records l'album debuttò alla posizione numero uno nella Billboard 200, seguendo le orme del precedente album di The Game, The Documentary.^[1] L'album vanta la produzione di Kanye West, Just Blaze e Scott Storch, già presenti nel primo album, come di will.i.am e Swizz Beatz, che non vi avevano partecipato. Da notare, sempre rispetto al primo album, è l'assenza di Dr. Dre. Nonostante il produttore non compaia nel novero di coloro che hanno partecipato alla produzione dell'album il rapper dedicò a lui il proprio lavoro.^[2] Fondamentale per The Game fu mettere in chiaro che poteva ancora fare buona musica, confermandosi ai livelli del suo album di esordio, pur senza il sostegno di Dr. Dre o 50 Cent.^[3][4] In qualità di ospiti, parteciparono all'album Busta Rhymes, Nas, Nate Dogg, Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, Jamie Foxx ed Xzibit.

Testi

Doctor's Advocate contiene un certo numero di canzoni legate a "cliché" dell'hip hop west coast come la violenza delle gang, il sesso e l'uso di droga. A oner del vero c'è da dire che altre canzoni si discostano da questo immaginario gangsta.^[5]

Produzioni

Le produzioni furono ben accolte dalla critica. David Jeffries, giornalista di All Music affermò: "beat-makers like Kanye West, Just Blaze, Scott Storch and Swizz Beatz are all on fire" and went on to praise will.i.am's return his "hood sound after years with the polished Black Eyed Peas"^[6], ovvero: "Produttori come Kanye West, Just Blaze, Scott Storch e Swizz Beatz hanno veramente dato il meglio di sé e da sottolineare è anche il ritorno di Will.I.Am a quel suono del ghetto che proponeva prima del periodo Black Eyed Peas".
