シレジア語

シレジア語（ślůnsko godka）は、ポーランド南西部からチェコ北東部にまたがる上シレジア（シュレージエン）地方で話される言語。西スラヴ語群のレヒト諸語に属し、ポーランド語に近いのでその方言とする見解もあるが、最近になり独立の言語とされることが多くなった。

話者数は正確には不明であるが、20万人前後と思われる。ポーランドの国勢調査（2011年）によると、自称シレジア語話者が6万人、「シレジア人」が81万7千人という。チェコでは話者（多くの人はポーランド人と自称する）が10万人とされる。この地方はオーストリアおよびプロイセンに長く支配されたことから、スラヴ人のシレジア語は独自の発展を遂げた。しかし書記言語としては必ずしも確立していない。

ポーランドでは2003年にシレジア国立出版社が設立され、シレジア語およびシレジアに関する図書を刊行している。2007年、ISO 639と国際SILによりシレジア語が認められた。2007年にはポーランドの国会議員有志がシレジア語に地方言語の資格を与えるための新法を提案した。
