ミズガエル属（ミズガエルぞく、学名：Telmatobius）は、ミズガエル科の属の1つ。ミズガエル科は本属のみから成る単型[1]。エクアドル、ペルー、ボリビア、アルゼンチン北西部、チリ北部にかけて、アンデス山脈に分布する[2]。Batrachophrynus 属を認める見解もある[3]。
学名はギリシア語の「τέλμα (télma、沼)」と「βίος (bios、生物)」に由来する。

形態と生態
ほとんどの種は半水生で、いくつかの種は完全水生である[4]。アンデス山脈に分布し、標高1,000-5,200mの湖、川、湿地帯やその付近に生息する[5]。フニンミズガエルは300mmと大型で、チチカカミズガエルはその次に大きい[6]。これら2種は完全水生のカエルの中で最大である[7]。その他の種はかなり小さい。フニンミズガエル、チチカカミズガエル、Telmatobius mayoloi、Telmatobius gigas といった、オタマジャクシが大型の種は、標高の高い場所で見られる傾向にある[8]。
脅威と保全
ほとんどの種は生息地の喪失、汚染、カエルツボカビ症や線虫感染症、外来のニジマスによる捕食、食用目的の捕獲が脅威となっている。エクアドル産の3種は既に絶滅している可能性があり、Telmatobius cirrhacelis は1981年、Telmatobius niger は1994年、Telmatobius vellardi は1987年以来目撃されていない[4][9]。またボリビア産の15種のうち、7種は長年目撃されていない。ユラカレミズガエルは10年間野生では目撃されておらず、1頭の雄が飼育されるのみであった。しかし2019年に野生個体が数匹確認された[10]。
