പത്മ നദി

പത്മ നദി പശ്ചിമബംഗാളിലെ ഫറാക്ക പിന്നിട്ട്‌ 40 കിലോമീറ്ററുകൾ ഒഴുകിയ ശേഷം ഗംഗ കൈവഴികളായി പിരിയുന്നു.പത്മ എന്ന പേരിലറിയപ്പെടുന്ന കൈവഴി ബംഗ്ലാദേശിലെക്ക് ഒഴുകുന്നു.പശ്ചിമബംഗാളിലുടെ ഒഴുകുന്ന കൈവഴിയാണ് ഭാഗീരഥി. ബംഗാളിലെ ഹുഗ്ലി ജില്ലയിൽവെച്ച് ഭാഗീരഥി പത്മയുടെ കൈവഴിയായ ജലാങ്ങിയുമായി കുടിച്ചേരുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് ഹുഗ്ലി നദി എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. കൊൽക്കത്ത നഗരം ഹുഗ്ലി നദിയുടെ തീരത്താണ്.
