ဓာတ်ပုံ

ဓာတ်ပုံ (photograph often shortened to photo) ဟူသည် အလင်းကို အာရုံခံနိုင်စွမ်းရှိသော ဓာတ်သားပါသည့် ဖလင်ပြားပေါ်သို့ အလင်းကျရောက်ရာမှ ဖြစ်ပေါ်ရရှိလာသော ပုံရိပ် (image) ဖြစ်သည်။ ဓာတ်ပုံအများစုကို ဓာတ်ပုံ ပုံရိပ်ကို ဝင်ရောက်လာအောင် ဖမ်းယူနိုင်သော မှန်ဘီလူးပါသည့် ကင်မရာ ဖြင့် ဖန်တီးပြုလုပ်ခြင်း ဖြစ်သည်။ ဓာတ်ပုံတစ်ပုံရရှိအောင် ဖန်တီးပြုလုပ်ခြင်း အတတ်ပညာကို ဓာတ်ပုံပညာ သို့မဟုတ် ဖိုတိုဂရပ်ဖီ (photograpgy) ဟုခေါ်သည်။ အင်္ဂလိပ်စကားလုံး ("photograph") ကို ၁၈၃၉ တွင် ဆာဂျွန်ဟာရှဲလ် (Sir John Herschel) က ဂရိဘာသာစကား (φῶς (phos) = "light" = အလင်း နှင့် γραφή (graphê)= "drawing, writing" = ပုံဆွဲခြင်း။ နှစ်ခုပေါင်းပါက "drawing with light" = အလင်းဖြင့်ပုံဆွဲခြင်း) မှ စတင်တီထွင်သုံးစွဲခဲ့သည်။ ^[၁]
