Chiquita Brands International (voorheen United Fruit Company) ontstond in 1899 uit een fusie tussen de American Railway Company en de Boston Fruit Company. Het bedrijf heeft twee hoofdzetels, één in het Zwitserse Etoy en één in het Amerikaanse Fort Lauderdale.
