<p>Aduba's carrière begon met het spelen in toneelstukken. Voor haar rol in het toneelstuk <i>Translations of Xhosa</i> werd zij genomineerd voor een <i>Helen Hayes Award</i>. Ze werd echter bekend bij het grote publiek door haar rol als Suzanne "<i>Crazy Eyes"</i> Warren in de televisieserie <i><a href="/nl/Orange_Is_the_New_Black" title="Orange Is the New Black" class="wl">Orange Is the New Black</a></i>. Eerder was ze te zien in de televisieserie <i><a href="/nl/Blue_Bloods" title="Blue Bloods" class="wl">Blue Bloods</a></i>. Tevens is zij te zien in de films <i>Showing Roots</i> (2016), <i>Pearly Gates</i> (2015) en <i>The Wiz Live!</i> (2015).
