Groven Myhren regnes blant Norges fremste folkemusikere,[3] og har flere førstepremier fra Landskappleiken. I 1997 ble hun tildelt Sagaprisen for sin kveding. Hun trakterer også lyre og seljefløyte. I tillegg til den norske folkemusikken, har hun arbeidet mye med middelaldermusikk, blant annet gjennom bandet Aurora Borealis. I 2001 gav hun ut CD-en Nivelkinn i samarbeid med Odd Nordstoga, og med tekster av Aslaug Vaa. For den fikk de Spellemannprisen 2002 i klassen folkemusikk/gammaldans. Hun fikk Gammleng-prisen 2022 i klassen folkemusikk/tradisjonsmusikk og ble nominert til Folkelarmprisen 2023 i åpen klasse for Haugtussa - Forteljing i songar.[4][5]
Groven Myhren har også arbeidet som skuespiller ved Det Norske Teatret, Riksteatret og Hordaland Teater.[2]
Øyonn Groven Myhren er datter av kvederen og litteraturforskeren Dagne Groven Myhren og spellemannen og språkviteren Magne Myhren. Hun er barnebarn av Eivind Groven.
