Saltangará (foreldet dansk skrivemåte Saltangerå) er en bygd på Færøyene. Den inngår i en 10 km lang, sammenhengende bebyggelse på østsiden av Skálafjørður på Eysturoy. Kommunehuset i Runavíkar kommuna ligger i Saltangará, som ellers er et lokalt handelssentrum.

Bygda ligger på det som opprinnelig var utmarken til nabobygda Glyvrar. I 1846 ble den bosatt som en utflytterbygd fra Glyvrar.[2][3] Det var først i andre halvdel av 1900-tallet at bygda vokste seg større enn noen spredte hus. Både Glyvrar og Runavík ble da bygget ut til viktige fiskerihavner.
Denne utmarken med lynghei har vært kalt Heiðarnar. Dette navnet lever videre på folkemunne. Bygda fikk allerede på 1800-tallet navnet Saltangará. Det kan være avledet av et gammelt fjordnavn fra norrønt angr, som i Stavanger og Hardanger, eller være en forvanskning av Salthandara, det vil si bortenfor Saltnes.[2]
