Alice Bailey

Alice Ann Bailey (født som Alice LaTrobe Bateman 16. juni 1880 i Manchester, død 15. desember 1949 i New York) var en engelsk-amerikansk teosof og nyreligiøs forfatter og lærer. Hun «regnes av mange innen New Age som en av de viktigste og mest innflytelsesrike tenkerne innen åndelig og okkult filosofi i det 20. århundre».^[4]

Hun flyttet til USA i 1907. Hun var opprinnelig medlem av Teosofisk samfunn, men brøt ut rundt 1922 og stiftet organisasjonen Lucis Trust og året etter Arcane School, en brevskole i hennes teorier.

Alice A. Bailey skrev mellom 1919 og 1949 24 bøker om esoterisme, teosofi, okkultisme, kristendom og annet som i dag kalles New Age. Hun regnes som opphav til begrepet New Age, som hun brukte i A treatise on white magic, or, The way of the disciple (1934).^[4] I denne skildrer hun hvordan «en ny tidsalder snart ville bryte frem, en tidsalder frigjort fra materielle bånd, og hvor alle mennesker, etter en åndelig og psykisk oppvåkning, vil se at hele universet er gjennomstrømmet av energier».^[4]

Flere av hennes bøker skal ha blitt telepatisk formidlet fra «tibetaneren», også omtalt til som «D.K.», senere bekjentgjort som «Djwal Kuhl».
