Abel siguec trapat en gèr de 1995 en Chad, ena region de Kanem, peth paleontològ Michel Brunet (1) qu'aperèc eth fossil Abel tà aunorar eth sòn proche amic Abel Brillanceau, qu'auia mòrt de malaria en 1989. Es despulhes d'Abel son sonque un troç de maissa e pr'açò se sap plan pauc de son estil de vida. Es pauques dents confermen qu'ère deth genre d'Australopithecus, ei un dusau premolar samb ua corona ampla de tipe molar qu'ei disparièr deth fossil aperat Lucy, un Australopithecus afarensis.
