ਡੀਯੂਈ ਦਸ਼ਮਲਵ ਵਰਗੀਕਰਣ ਇੱਕ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦੀ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ 1876 ਵਿੱਚ ਅਮਰੀਕਨ ਲਾਈਬ੍ਰੇਰੀਅਨ ਮੈਲਵਿਲ ਡੀਯੂਈਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੀ ਲਿਆਕਤ, ਖੋਜ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਹਨਤ ਨਾਲ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਬ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਅਧੁਨਿਕ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਵਰਗੀਕਰਣ ਦੀ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਸਾਨ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀਆਂ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਈਆਂ। ਇਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰ੍ਸਿੱਧੀ ਦੇ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਕਈ ਨਵੇਂ ਸੰਸਕਰਣ ਆਉਣ ਲਗੇ। 2011 ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਆਪਣੇ 23 ਵੇ ਸੰਸਕਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ 1924 ਵਿੱਚ ਰੰਗਨਾਥਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਆਪਣੇ 11 ਵੇ ਸੰਸਕਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ।
