Масивные носны муры мож вымѣнити рядами опор, котры мають форму вертикалного стержня и переносять статичну затяж на фундамент. Уже в ранный период истории обычным было поужитя деревяного стовпа, который и понынѣ служить як подпорка. В сучасности тот архитектурный елемент видиме в маштовых конштрукциях, в бетоновых стовпах, закрѣпленых во фундаментѣ, в опорах стрѣх або висячих мостох.[2]
В старовѣкых египетскых храмах монументалный входный портал мав форму двох притятых пирамид зоз входом меджи нима.[3]
Пилоны тыж видиме в чисто декоративной функции яко масивны стовпы, котры стоять по боках парадных входох на територию сполоченскых инштитуций, паркох и т. п. В той функции они часто служать яко постамент про статуи або иншы умѣлецко-декоративны вытворы.[3]
