Erich Honecker (German: [ˈeːʁɪç ˈhɔnɛkɐ]; 25 August 1912 – 29 Mey 1994) wis a German politeecian who, as the General Secretar o the Socialist Unity Pairty, led the German Democratic Republic frae 1971 till the weeks precedin the faw o the Berlin Waw in 1989.
