Lambaré wis foondit bi Carlos Murphy in 1766. Efter the unthirldom o Paraguay, its creation wis formalisit bi Law No. 791, o 5 Juin 1962. The decree o the formation o the new municipality wis signed bi the govrenment o Alfredo Stroessner. The first preses o the Municipal Cooncil wis Mariano Escauriza.
Toponymy
The name o the toun derive frae the Guarani leid Ambaré, "the laund o shadaes". The fowk wur kent as avambaré, ceetizens o El Ambaré.
