Henry James, OM (15.4. 1843. – 28.2. 1916.), sin teologa Henryja Jamesa Sr. i brat filozofa i psihologa Williama Jamesa i spisateljice dnevnika Alice James, bio je američki pisac i književni kritičar s kraja 19. i početka 20. vijeka. Najveći dio života proveo je u Evropi te je postao britanski podanik nedugo prije smrti. Najpoznatiji je po romanima, pripovjetkama i novelama koje se tiču svijesti i morala.

James je značajno doprinio proznoj kritici, prvenstveno zahvaljujući svom inzistiranju da pisci terbaju imati najveću moguću slobodu u nastojanju da iskažu svoje viđenje svijeta. Njegova domišljata upotreba gledišta, unutrašnjih monologa i nepouzdanih naratora u njegovoj prozi donijela je novi interes za narativnu prozu. Poznat kao izuzetno plodan pisac, objavio je putopise, biografije, autobiografije i likovne kritike.
