Lorenz Hart

Lorenz "Larry" Milton Hart (2. maj 1895 – 22. novembar 1943) bio je američki tekstopisac, poznat kao dio proslavljenog brodvejskog pjesmotvoračkog tandema Rodgers i Hart. Rodio se u Harlemu u porodici jevrejskih imigranata iz Njemačke. Otac mu je bio relativno dobro situiran, te je mogao priuštiti studij na Univerzitetu Columbia gdje je upoznao Roya Rodgersa. Njih dvojica su počeli surađivati na brodvejskim predstavama, da bi postigli uspjeh sredinom 1920-ih. Njihove pjesme, koji su se odlikovale vedrim tonom, su doživjele veliki uspjeh, kako na pozornici, tako i na filmu. Početkom 1930-ih je Hart zahvaljujući tome postao jedan od najuspješnijih i najimućnijih brodvejskih tekstopisaca, čiji je stan postao mjesto mondenih i luskuznih zabava. Tate je, s druge strane, u isto vrijeme postao alkoholičar, a za što neki kasniji biografi nastoje špekulirajući kako je bio samopotisnuti homoseksualac. 1940-ih je piće počelo toliko uticati na njegov rad da je Rodgers razmišljao o tome da nađe novog partnera; u toj odluci ga je pretekla Hartova smrt, poslije koje je Rodgers postao dio mnogo poznatijeg tandema Rodgers i Hammerstein.
