- Summer – Battle of Nisibis: The Roman army is defeated in a three days battle by the Parthians at Nisibis (southern Turkey).
- King Artabanus IV signs a peace treaty with Rome.
- Macrinus, of Mauritania, becomes the first equestrian Roman emperor.
