Akmola Region is a region (or an oblys in Kazakh) of Kazakhstan. It is mostly known for having the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, in it. Akmola region's capital is officially Kokshetau. The mayor (or akim) of the region is Ermek Marzhikpaev. There are ten cities in this region: Akkol, Atbasar, Derzhavinsk, Ereymentau, Esil, Kokshetau, Makinsk, Shchuchinsk, Stepnogorsk, and Stepnyak.
