Andrew Graham Beshear (/bəˈʃɪər/ bə-SHEER;[1] born November 29, 1977) is an American attorney and politician serving as the 63rd governor of Kentucky since 2019. Before becoming governor, he was the 50th attorney general of Kentucky from 2016 to 2019.[2] He is the son of former Kentucky governor Steve Beshear and first lady Jane Beshear.
In 2019, he defeated incumbent Governor Matt Bevin by just over 5,000 votes in the 2019 gubernatorial election. Beshear was reelected to a second term in 2023 by a wider margin of 5%.[3]
