Area codes 214, 469, 972, and 945

Area codes 214, 469, 972, and 945 are area codes for Texas. 214 was one of the first area codes created in 1947. It initially covered the eastern portion of Texas but after it was split by 903 in 1990. It now covers only the Dallas portion. It was split by 972 in 1996. However, later on July 1, 1999, the 214 and 972 boundary was eliminated and it became an overlay. It was also overlaid by 469 on the same day as the boundary elimination of the 214/972 area occurred and then it was overlaid by 945 in 2021.
