Area code 276 is a telephone area code in the southwestern part of the state of Virginia and a small part of northeastern Tennessee in the United States. It covers a especially rural area and includes cities and towns in the area, such as Bristol, Wytheville, and Martinsville. It was created on September 1, 2001 as a split from area code 540, which originally covered a larger part of southwestern Virginia.
