Area code 865 is a telephone area code in the state of Tennessee in the United States. It covers the eastern part of the state, including the cities of Knoxville, Oak Ridge, and Sevierville. It was created on November 1, 1999, as a split from area code 423, which originally covered a larger part of eastern Tennessee.
