Edward Rendell

Edward Gene "Ed" Rendell (born January 5, 1944) is an American politician. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He became governor of Pennsylvania in 2002. He was governor from January 21, 2003 until January 18, 2011.

a.^ Knoll died on November 12, 2008 b.^ As President Pro Tempore of the State Senate, Scarnati immediately become acting Lieutenant Governor upon Knoll's death. He was sworn-in on December 3, 2008.

Early life and education

Rendell was born in New York City to Jewish American parents Jesse T. Rendell and Emma Sloat.^[1] He went to the University of Pennsylvania in 1961 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree and later got a Juris Doctor from Villanova Law School in 1968. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1968 to 1974.
