Eighth note

The eighth note (also called a quaver) is a note used in musical notation. It is ​¹⁄₈ the duration of a whole note (semibreve), which is where it gets its name. In the ${\displaystyle {\frac {4}{4}}}$ time signature it has a length of ​¹⁄₂ of a beat.
