Gardner Francis Cooper Fox[1] (May 20, 1911 – December 24, 1986)[2] was an American comics writer. He was known best for creating many comic book characters for DC Comics. He created Hawkman, The Flash, The Justice League, Batgirl and Doctor Fate.

Fox was born in New York City. He died on December 25, 1986 in Princeton, New Jersey from pneumonia at the age of 75.[3]
