Gene Wolfe

Gene Rodman Wolfe (May 7, 1931 – April 14, 2019) was an American science fiction and fantasy writer. He was known for his fantasy novels which had connections to his Catholic faith. His best known work was The Book of the New Sun, a collection of four novels. Wolfe won two Nebula Awards and many Locus Awards.

Wolfe was born on May 7, 1931 in New York City, New York. He studied at Texas A&M University and at the University of Houston. He was married to Rosemary Wolfe. He lived in Chicago and in Barrington, Illinois.

Wolfe had double bypass surgery on April 24, 2010.^[1] He also had surgery on his right eye in early 2013. He died from heart disease on April 14, 2019 in his Peoria, Illinois home. He was 87.^[2]
