Kashan is a city in Iran. It is near Isfahan, about 200 kilometres (120 mi) from Tehran. The city is known for its textiles. In the Middle Ages, it was also known for ceramics. As of 2012, about 275,000 people live in the city, about 317,000 in its metropolitan area. The city is along the road from Qom to Kerman. Kashan is located at the edge of a desert, along the first oasis. The city has a desert climate, with hot summers, and cold winters.

There is a university in the city, which offers higher education in medicine.
Industry
Rose water is produced in the city.
In Natanz, about 40 kilometres (25 mi) south of Kashan, there is an uranium enrichment plant. This plant uses gas centrifuges. It is part of the Iranian nuclear program.
