Ellen Muriel Deason, known by professional name Kitty Wells (August 30, 1919 – July 16, 2012), was an American country singer from Nashville who went under the nickname The Queen of Country Music. She had many country singles that hit number 1 on charts. One of them is from 1952, called "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels". Wells' death in 2012 was due to complications of a stroke.
